Whether you have always wanted to play piano but never had a chance to learn as a child or took lessons as a child but need a refresher, I can help. Maybe you want to have a new challenge to keep your brain healthy or maybe you need a creative way to help keep your fingers nimble because you suffer from arthritis, I can help. Let’s talk about piano lessons!

I’m sure you have lots of questions about the effectiveness of online lessons so let me address as many of these issues as I can. First, please read through the Frequently Asked Questions.

Online lessons are equally as effective as in-person lessons for most people. As with any lessons in general, they are as effective as you, the student , choose to make them. Do you take advantage of all the special materials available in the practice app? Do you come to your lesson prepared with questions? Are you honest with your teacher about how and what you practiced? If you have had a rough practice week, it is important to communicate that to the teacher! Have you been following the teacher’s recommendations on how to practice? Do you make it a point to communicate with your teacher openly when problems arise? Is your equipment functioning optimally during the lesson? These are all elements that influence the success of piano lessons, be they in person or online!

How are lessons for adults different from your program for children? My program for children is games-based. Now, as an adult if you want to play the learning games, we can do that! Morris the Music Moose will even visit you if that is what you desire! However, unlike the more teacher-directed approach I use with children, you, as the adult student, are in control of what you want to learn and how quickly you learn it. I serve more as a coach and reference source following your lead. Lessons are totally interactive, personalized and tailored to your needs and what you like to play.

One of the aspects of learning piano as a adult that is different is that due to your education and life experiences, your brain will probably learn more quickly than your fingers. As an adult, you will learn to be patient with yourself and not compare your progress to others, but just be the best and happiest YOU that you can be.

Are online lesson a good value? In the long run, virtual lessons can save you money, not because they are less expensive, but because you don’t have to drive anywhere, thus saving gas money and probably reducing your stress level from dealing with traffic.
