Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost? Please see Lesson Rates and Packages
What forms of payment do you accept? All payments are made through Fons which accepts credit, debit or direct bank transfer.
What happens if I can’t make a scheduled lesson? Do you offer make-up lessons? No, but you are welcome to submit videos of your songs and I will respond with suggestions for improvement.
Do you offer flexible scheduling for busy adults? Yes, see Lesson Rates and Packages above.
Do you hold recitals? Yes. Please see my Studio Policies link below.
Do adults have to participate in recitals? Since our recitals are usually prerecorded and low stress, I recommend that you do participate when you feel you are ready to share your music but it is entirely up to you!
What are your qualifications to teach? I have Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees from Michigan State University and have been teaching since 1972! I regularly participate in professional development to keep my teaching fresh and I am always learning new methods and techniques.
What other expenses can I anticipate in addition to lesson tuition? You will need to purchase your own method books and a staff whiteboard for which links will be provided.
What method books do you use? Can I use books and music I already have? I use the Faber Piano Adventures series and supplemental books. In addition I have a large library of studio licensed digital music which I can email to you as needed. It may be possible to use music that you already have and that issue is decided on a case by case basis with the most likely answer being “no” since we need to have identical copies.
Do I need to make a long term commitment? Adults may use the flexible scheduling plan which is a month to month commitment. For children, after your free trial lesson and special four-lesson probationary period, you will need to commit for the remainder of the school year.
Are you the only instructor in the studio? Yes.
