Meet Mrs. Miller

I am Sarah Miller and I have been teaching piano since 1972. I hold Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Michigan State University. I taught elementary music in public schools for many years and earned National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification in Early and Middle Childhood Music, the highest level of certification an accomplished teacher can earn. In addition to teaching public school music, I have accompanied musicals, and served for many years as a church pianist, all the while maintaining a small piano studio at home. I have always had a keen appreciation for the use of technology so when COVID hit in 2020, I was successfully able to take my studio online where I discovered that with the right tools and techniques, online lessons can be equally engaging, fun and productive as teaching in person.

Although classically trained, I enjoy studying jazz and improvisation with Bradley Sowash, and attend many workshops, webinars and conferences to keep my teaching current. I also enjoy writing songs for my students.
